Cadmium selenite (CdSeO3), not to be confused with cadmium selenide, is an inorganic compound made up of cadmium, selenium, and oxygen. A red crystalline powder in its pure state, it has seen a resurgence of interest with the advance of nanoparticle production and research technologies.
Applications
Cadmium selenite has relatively few current applications, but it is the subject of significant research by nanoparticle researchers. Early signs suggest an increase in commercial viability as research progresses.
- Nanoparticles. Like the closely-related cadmium selenide (CdSe), cadmium selenite is of significant interest in nanoparticle research, despite a relatively low number of current commercial applications.
- Thermoelectrical properties. Early research of cadmium selenite nanoparticles has focused on its thermoelectrical properties. Studies suggest that as the temperature of CdSeO3 nanoparticles increases, so too does conductivity, dialectric constant, and dialectric loss.
- Glass. Like other metal selenites, cadmium selenite may be of use in the production of certain formulations of glass, though cadmium selenide is more frequently used for this application.
AHP Materials offers cadmium selenite at 99.999% and 99.9999% purity as part of our normal product listings. If you would like to ask about this material, or have questions about custom orders outside of our normal listings, contact AHP Materials today.
